Terms of Service

By accessing or using DIY Off-Grid Advisor ("the Service", "we", "us", "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service, including free (Scout) and paid (Outfitter, Convoy, Installer) account holders.

DIY Off-Grid Advisor is a web-based platform that provides tools, calculators, educational content, and community features to assist individuals in designing off-grid solar and electrical systems.

The Service includes, but is not limited to: load calculators, component sizing wizards, wiring guides, knowledge base articles, community Q&A, price tracking, and build journaling tools.

The Service is currently in beta. Features, pricing, and availability may change without notice during this period.

THE INFORMATION AND TOOLS PROVIDED BY THIS SERVICE ARE FOR EDUCATIONAL AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY. THEY DO NOT CONSTITUTE PROFESSIONAL ELECTRICAL, ENGINEERING, OR SAFETY ADVICE.

Off-grid electrical systems involve real risks including fire, electric shock, and equipment damage. Always consult a licensed electrician or qualified professional before installing any electrical system, particularly for mains-connected or high-voltage components.

Component recommendations, sizing calculations, and wiring diagrams generated by this Service are estimates based on the data you provide. Actual system requirements may vary. We accept no liability for any loss, damage, injury, or death arising from reliance on information provided by this Service.

Compliance with local electrical codes, standards (AS/NZS 3000, NEC, IEC, etc.), and regulations is your sole responsibility. Always verify requirements with your local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).

To access certain features, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account. You may not use another person's account without permission.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abusive behaviour, or are used for fraudulent purposes.

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at info@diyoffgridadvisor.com. Upon deletion, your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

The Scout plan is free and provides access to core tools. Paid plans (Outfitter, Convoy, Installer) provide additional features and are billed on a monthly or annual basis.

Subscription billing is not yet active during the beta period. Early adopters who purchase lifetime or annual access during beta will be honoured at the agreed rate.

All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD) unless otherwise stated. Prices may be subject to GST.

Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. If you are unsatisfied with a paid plan, contact us within 14 days of purchase and we will work to resolve the issue.

The Service allows users to submit content including community questions, answers, build journals, price reports, and feature requests ("User Content").

By submitting User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with the Service.

You are solely responsible for your User Content. You must not submit content that is false, misleading, defamatory, offensive, or in violation of any third-party rights.

We reserve the right to remove any User Content that violates these terms or that we deem inappropriate, without notice.

The Service and its original content (excluding User Content), features, and functionality are owned by DIY Off-Grid Advisor and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our express written permission.

Product data, brand information, and pricing data displayed on the Service is sourced from public information and user contributions. We make no warranty as to its accuracy or completeness.

You agree not to use the Service to: (a) violate any applicable law or regulation; (b) transmit spam, malware, or harmful code; (c) attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service; (d) scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data without permission; (e) impersonate any person or entity; (f) interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.

Automated access to the Service (bots, scrapers, crawlers) is prohibited without prior written consent.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, DIY OFF-GRID ADVISOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or AUD $100, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our practices.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by email.

Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria, Australia.

Notwithstanding the above, nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under the mandatory consumer protection or privacy laws of your country of residence. If you are located in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protections, those protections apply to you regardless of this governing law clause.
